Curious, George?

April 15, 2010

The film is set in an unnamed underground city of the future, where sexual intercourse is outlawed and use of mind-altering drugs is mandatory. Narcotics are critical both in maintaining compliance among the city’s residents and also for ensuring their ability to conduct dangerous and demanding tasks for long periods of time. The inhabitants worship a godlike being known as “OMM”, whom they commune with in telephone booth-like areas known as “Unichapels”.
X-1138 works in a factory producing androids that function as police officers. The work is hazardous as it requires handling explosive and radioactive material.
It was the first feature-length film directed by Lucas, developed from his (almost) eponymous student film.

X is a trade name of a high-fidelity sound reproduction standard for movie theaters, screening rooms, home theaters, computer speakers, gaming consoles, and car audio systems.

X was developed by Tomlinson Holman at George Lucas’s company, Lucasfilm, in 1983 to ensure that the soundtrack for the third Star Wars film, Return of the Jedi, would be accurately reproduced in the best venues.

Give me X.
Hint: The name of the inventor goes into the answer

Answer

It is indeed THX. Anoop, Gandhi and Mr Evil monkey get it right. The title was referring to Curious George, the animated monkey that appears in Dolby digital trailers.

The sound made by this object lends itself to something that has been in place since the 16th century. What?

ANSWER
The object in picture here is called the battachio. When struck, the battacchio produces a loud smacking noise, though little force is transferred from the object to the person being struck. The term Slapstickcomes from this. Surprisingly uncracked.

Answer:
Well The answer was Qt, the app dev framework used in a lot of cross platform GUIs. Katoch got to it, I remember.

The first image is from two stupid dogs – Ain’t that ‘cute’, but its wrooooong!’ Qt is pronounced cute
Now KDE was based on Qt, which wasn’t really free as in free beer and speech, so there was a lot of controversy which led to the development of GNOME (Interesting, eh?)
Qt was developed by a company called Trolltech, hence the troll
It was acquired by Nokia in ’08, thus the Nokia headquarters snap.

Well the first one is Image of Red Apple cigarretes  his fictitious brand of cigarettes features in many Q.T. movies.

The Second one is a 1964 chevy malibu convertible, this is the same car that is seen in Pulp fiction and has a mention in some of his other movies like the Four Rooms etc., Though in general, his trademark is use of G.M. cars.

Finally the last one in the logo of ‘A Band Apart’, it is the production company of Q.T.

Three Times redux

Who completes this loose trilogy? Which trilogy?

ANSWER
Dhirubhai Ambani

The trilogy being referred to here is Mani Ratnam’s bio-pics:Varadarajan Mudaliar(Nayakan),MGR/Karunanidhi/Jaya Lalitha(Irvuar),Dhirubhai Ambani(Guru).Mani has never actually accepted that these films were based on the mentioned individuals, and they form a trilogy only in the sense that they refract Indian history through the life stories of these protagonists.
